USS Intrepid CVS-11   -   Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

    HUDSON RIVER, NEW YORK CITY: The Aircraft Carrier USS Intrepid Association and Intrepid Sea*Air*Space Museum will sponsor Amateur Special Event station WA3KEY/2 to operate from the flight deck of the newly refurbished USS Intrepid while being towed from the Staten Island Homeport to its new pier on the west side of Manhattan.

    Operation will be between 1400 and 1900 UTC on Thursday, October 2, 2008. The tow is expected to get underway at 1500h and last 2-1/2 to 3 hours with stops to pay tribute at the Statue of Liberty and Ground Zero. Suggested operating freq's: 7,243 and 14,251 KHz.
